More Information about the Virtues Chakra Workshop

Virtues Chakra Workshop Facilitators

Padmini and Atmakiran met at a Bahai Women’s retreat some years ago and felt a deep connection.  Atmakiran was teaching yoga and Padmini was running a workshop on the Virtues. Since that time they have successfully run together several fundraising events for projects in India. They would now like  to weave their skills together into a weekend exploring the Virtues and the Chakras. By coincidence both have trained as Social Workers and bring their many years of experience and skills of running groups and doing training  in the community and different institutions.

Padmini Pai
Padmini [PhD] is a Social Worker by profession and currently works in the Health Service. She has undergone the Virtues facilitators training in 2007. Since completion of the training she has conducted  workshops in Australiaand overseas and trained approximately 300 participants belonging to various backgrounds from teachers/health care professionals/psychologists/corporate sectors and parent groups. She has been honoured as a Master Facilitator by the founders of the project for her dedication and commitment. She has completed the Labyrinth Facilitators training under Rev. Dr. Lauren Artress in March 2011,and is also a Soulcollage Facilitator.

Sue Brittain (Atmakiran) has been teaching yoga at Bulli since 2000.  She regularly teaches 7 different day and evening classes for all levels from Beginners to Advanced. As her business name suggests this 'Yoga is for Everybody' including all ages, all body shapes and sizes, all levels of health, fitness, mobility and yoga experience.
She regularly teaches at the Mangrove Yoga Centre co-ordinating Yoga Relax Weekends and Meditation Weekends and assisting in the Yoga Studies Diploma and Yoga Teacher Training. Prior to teaching Yoga Sue trained as a Social Worker and worked for more than 20 years in many different community services and also taught at TAFE in Community Welfare.

Understanding Yourself Through the Chakras

We have a number of principle aspects to our personalities: our sense of security, our joy, sexuality, power, dynamic action, self-esteem, love, ability to communicate, intellect and intuition. These qualities are associated with energy centres, called Chakras situated along the spine. They are wheels of energy, which have physical components like the nerve plexuses and endocrine glands. They also have psychological qualities relating to the different aspects of our personality.

Most yoga practices are working with the chakras. By recognising and being aware of the chakras, particularly the psychological aspects, we gain more understanding of our self and how we’re so unique. Through the practices of yoga and meditation, we can seek to consciously evolve the different qualities of our nature.

About the Virtues Project
The Virtues Project™ is a simple, effective, strength-based, character education that brings out the best in ourselves and others, and helps us to live by our highest values. This 2-day interactive workshop gives the participants an opportunity to share, learn and use the techniques of the Virtues Project™ effectively, by focusing on human virtues and learning strategies of how to practise them.
Bringing Virtues to Life
The Virtues Project is a global grassroots initiative to inspire the practice of virtues in everyday life. The Project is sparking a global revolution of kindness, justice, and integrity in more than 95 countries through its facilitators and Virtues Connections.
It is a project which has gone into schools, homes, corporate groups, prisons and various community groups, internationally.
The Virtues Project empowers individuals to live more authentic meaningful lives, families to raise children of compassion and integrity, educators to create safe, caring, and high performing learning communities, and leaders to encourage excellence and ethics in the work place. It has inspired and mobilized people worldwide to commit acts of service and generosity, to heal violence with virtues.
The Five Virtues Strategies awaken the gifts of character, through inspiring programs, books, and materials that help us to remember who we really are and to live by our highest values. See the website, above, for further information.
5 Strategies of the Virtues Project:
1. Speak the Language of the Virtues - Language empowers or discourages.
2. Recognise Teachable Moments -‘What can I do differently next time?’
3. Set Clear Boundaries - Build an atmosphere of harmony, order and unity.
4. Honour the Spirit - Bring a sense of peace to life. Honour, respect, create, celebrate.
5. Offer the Art of Companioning - This involves true presence by just listening.
